2019 Patriot Day Commemoration Ceremony
September 11, 2019 • 12:00 pm - 1:00 am
Please join us at the City of Beaumont’s 2019 Patriot Day Commemoration Ceremony. This event is free and open to the public and is hosted by Beaumont Mayor Becky Ames, the Beaumont Police Department, the Beaumont Fire Department, the Beaumont EMS Department and the U.S. Army 842nd Transportation Battalion. This ceremony honors the memory of hundreds of first responders and thousands of civilians who lost their lives during the terror attacks on our country on September 11, 2001. We will never forget and we believe that by remembering those who made the ultimate sacrifice on that fateful day, we also honor all first responders who today take the oath to serve and protect the public.
Guest speaker at the ceremony will be Lt. Colonel Skylor Hearn, Deputy Director of Law Enforcement Services of the Texas Department of Public Safety. A Beaumont native, Lt. Colonel Hearn is one of three Deputy Directors for the agency and oversees the Law Enforcement Services Branch of the agency. Hearn has more
than 26 years of law enforcement experience, and holds
both bachelor and master degrees from Lamar University.
Hearn is a graduate of Northwestern University’s School of Police Staff and Command, the FBI National Academy, and the PERF Senior Management Institute for Police. Hearn is also a graduate of Texas State University’s Certified Public Manager Program and the
Governor’s Executive Development Program.
We encourage all citizens to join us in offering a warm hometown welcome to Lt. Colonel Hearn. Also joining us with musical tributes will be Sgt. Mike Custer of the Beaumont Police Department, choirs from Westbrook and United High Schools, and the bagpipe ensemble Piper, Rock, Scissors. Many thanks to our event sponsors and underwriters: HEB, ExxonMobil, Entergy, American Valve & Hydrant, Forest Lawn/Dignity Memorial, MCM Elegante, Beaumont Professional Firefighters Local 399, Beaumont Police Officers Association, Southeast Texas Air Rescue and Cotton Cargo.
