The BMT Film Fest, presented by the City of Beaumont, will bring together cinema enthusiasts, filmmakers and artists to celebrate and discover the best in foreign and local cinema, August 5-10, 2019, at the historic Jefferson Theatre.
Tickets can be purchased at the door or in advance from the Beaumont Civic Center Box Office, open Monday – Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
The Jefferson Theatre will host a week of critically-acclaimed foreign film screenings leading up to the festival. The selected films will expose viewers to cinematic gems from across the world and offer them the opportunity to gain a broader sense of international artistic visions. Screenings will begin at 7:30 p.m. with doors to the theatre opening at 6:00 p.m. The BMT Film Fest will screen the following foreign films:
· August 5: 8½ (d. Federico Fellini, 1963)
· August 6: Seven Samurai (d. Akira Kurosawa, 1954)
· August 7: Motorcycle Diaries (d. Walter Salles, 2004)
· August 8: Metropolis (d. Fritz Lang, 1927)
· August 9: Cinema Paradiso (d. Giuseppe Tornatore, 1988)
On Saturday, August 10, the BMT Film Fest will screen several feature films and documentaries, short films, animated features and student films. Doors open at 11:30am. Screenings will begin at 12:00 p.m. with award presentations at 6:00 p.m. The evening will conclude with a screening of “Not Me,” the latest from Lamar University film professor Mahmoud Salimi. The film is Salimi’s eleventh film as a director and has received global accolades since its release
