After several years as a journeyman musician around Madison\, WI and Austin\, TX\, Scaggs spent time traveling in Europe\, the Middle East and Asia\, eventually settling in Stockholm where he recorded the album Boz. \nReturning to the U.S. in 1967\, Scaggs joined the Steve Miller Band in San Francisco\, performing on that group’s albums Children of the Future and Sailor\, before launching his solo career with 1968’s seminal Boz Scaggs LP\, recorded in Muscle Shoals\, AL for Atlantic Records. Scaggs continued to mine a personalized mix of rock\, blues and R&B influences\, along with a signature style of ballads on such influential ’70s albums as Moments\, Boz Scaggs & Band\, My Time\, Slow Dancer and 1976’s Silk Degrees. The latter release became a massive commercial breakthrough\, reaching Number Two and remaining on the album charts for 115 weeks.  It spawned three Top 40 hit singles: “It’s Over\,” “Lido Shuffle” and the Grammy-winning “Lowdown.”  Subsequently\, “We’re All Alone” from that same album\, would become a #1 single for Rita Coolidge.  Silk Degrees was followed by the albums Down Two Then Left and Middle Man\, and such hit singles as “Breakdown Dead Ahead\,” “Jo Jo” and “Look What You’ve Done to Me.” \nDespite his ’70s successes\, Scaggs spent much of the 1980s out of the music-biz spotlight\, traveling\, opening a family business\, fathering young children and founding the San Francisco nightclub\, Slim’s\, He returned to the studio after an 8-year hiatus and released\, Other Roads\, Some Change\, Dig\, the Grammy-nominated Come on Home\, the unplugged Fade Into Light\, the in-concert retrospective Greatest Hits Live as well as a stint touring with Donald Fagen’s New York Rock & Soul Review; all while continuing to maintain a loyal audience in the U.S. and overseas\, particularly in Japan. A pair of albums of jazz standards\, But Beautiful and Speak Low\, the latter topping the Billboard Jazz chart\, demonstrated Scaggs’ stylistic mastery\, as did the Southern-flavored Memphis and the rhythm & bluesy A Fool to Care. \n“Music has been a constant companion and I’m feeling more free with it than ever\,” Scaggs comments. “I feel like I’ve found my voice through all these years\, and I’ve gotten closer to where I want to be with my approach.”

We will never forget and we believe that by remembering those who made the ultimate sacrifice on that fateful day\, we also honor all first responders who today take the oath to serve and protect the public. \nGuest speaker at the ceremony will be Lt. Colonel Skylor Hearn\, Deputy Director of Law Enforcement Services of the Texas Department of Public Safety.  A Beaumont native\, Lt. Colonel Hearn is one of three Deputy Directors for the agency and oversees the Law Enforcement Services Branch of the agency.  Hearn has more\n than 26 years of law enforcement experience\, and holds\nboth bachelor and master degrees from Lamar University.\n Hearn is a graduate of Northwestern University’s School of Police Staff and Command\, the FBI National Academy\, and the PERF Senior Management Institute for Police.  Hearn is also a graduate of Texas State University’s Certified Public Manager Program and the\n Governor’s Executive Development Program.   \nWe encourage all citizens to join us in offering a warm hometown welcome to Lt. These shows feature an acoustic set followed by an electric set that covers music from the last four decades. \nA Mexican-American band from East L.A.\, Los Lobos are a legendary rock band who honor their Mexican background by flavoring their rock and roll sound with Tex-Mex\, Cumbia\, Boleros and norteños\, while also inflecting their music with American Blues\, Zydeco\, Country and Folk. All incredible instrumentalists\, Los Lobos have been entertaining audiences since 1973 and\, in 2011\, were awarded the Latin Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award. \nBack in 2003\, when Los Lobos was celebrating the 30th Anniversary of their humble beginnings as a garage band in East L.A.\, Rolling Stone summed up their distinctive\, diverse\, freewheeling fusion of rock\, blues\, soul and Mexican folk music: “This is what happens when five guys create a magical sound\, then stick together…to see how far it can take them.” Originally called Los Lobos del Este (de Los Angeles)\, the group came together from three separate units. Lead vocalist/guitarist Hidalgo\, whose arsenal includes accordion\, percussion\, bass\, keyboards\, melodic\, drums\, violin\, and banjo\, met Perez at Garfield High in East LA and started a garage band. Rosas\, who had his own group\, and Lozano launched a power trio. “But we all hung out because we were friends and making music was just the natural progression of things\,” says Perez\, the band’s drummer. “Like if you hang around a barbershop long enough\, you’re going to get a haircut.” \nPerez\, once called their powerhouse mix of music “the soundtrack of the barrio.” Four decades\, 3 Grammys -11 nominations\, the global success of “La Bamba” and thousands of rollicking performances across the globe later\, Los Lobos is surviving quite well — and still jamming with the same raw intensity as they had when they began in that garage in 1973. \nThe critically acclaimed Kiko album was released in the late spring of ’92\, it was embraced by fans and hailed by critics as Los Lobos’ defining moment\, the album that put Los Lobos back on the innovation track.
