DESCRIPTION:The City of Beaumont is hosting the area’s first major eSports spectator event on Saturday\, April 28 at the Jefferson Theatre. \nThe greatest fighting game contenders from around the area will compete in an eSports showdown to see who will triumph as the champion of Southeast Texas. Competing in three games\, Street Fighter V\, Injustice 2\, and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U\, participants will give it their all in the Battle for Beaumont. Spectators also have a chance to join on the main stage. Interested guests will have an opportunity to compete in the Last Chance Qualifier bracket. The winner will compete with the best in the area on the stage during the main event. \neSports (competitive videogaming) is a rapidly growing billion dollar industry and this is the first large-scale event of its kind in Beaumont. The event is family-friendly and attendees can expect interactive experiences throughout the evening which include a showcase tournament of Dragonball FighterZ\, a cosplay contest\, food trucks\, giveaways and more\, with the main event taking place on stage in the theater at 7:00pm. \nTickets go on sale March 20 and are $10 in advance and $15 at the door. \n  \n***LAST CHANCE QUALIFIER RULES BELOW*** \n  \nTo enter the Last Chance Qualifier for Smash Bros. For Wii U\, Street Fighter V\, and Injustice 2 or the Dragonball FighterZ exhibition\, arrive between 4:00pm and 4:30pm with a ticket to enter the event and get registered.\nMake sure that you bring your own appropriate controller\, and arrive on time. Late entries will not be able to enter the tournaments. \nRules:\nStreet Fighter V:\n• Console – PlayStation 4\n• Game Settings – Versus Mode\, 99 Seconds\, 2/3 Rounds\, No Handicap\, Type B Pause Menu. Set Console to Offline\n• Stage Selection – If the players do not agree on a stage within 15 seconds\, the match will do random stage select. Kanzuki Beach and Skies of Honor are banned. The loser of the previous game may switch.\n• Character Customization – There will be no customizing colors\, name or items at any time before or during a tournament match. \nSmash Bros. For Wii U:\n• Console – Wii U\n• Controller Options: Gamecube Controller\, Wii U Pro Controller\, Wii Remote\, Wii Remote + Nunchucks\, Wii Classic Controller\, 3DS\n• Game Settings – 2 Stock\, 6 Minute Time Limit\, Custom Moves Off\, Items Off\, Equipment Off\, Handicap Off\, Pause Off\, Damage Ratio 100%\n• Set Procedure\n1.) Both players choose their characters.\n2.) The first stage is decided by a best of 1 game of Rock-Paper-Scissors.\n3.) The winner will strike one stage from all starter stages.\n4.) The loser strikes two more stages.\n5.) The winner than strikes one final stage.\n6.) The first game is played on the last remaining stage.\n7.) The winner of the first game may change their character.\n8.) The loser may then change their character.\n9.) The winner of the first game then strikes one stage from both the starter stages and counterpick stages\, unless the set is 3/5\, then there will be no strikes after the first game.\n10.) The loser then chooses from remaining stages that he has not already won on. \nDragonball FighterZ\n• Console – PlayStation 4\n• Game Settings – Versus Mode\, Default Settings for time and damage.\n• Stage Selection – If the players do not agree on a stage within 15 seconds\, the match will do random stage select. The same rule applies for music selection\n• Character Selection – The winner of any game must continue to play their previous team for the next game. The loser of the previous game may switch. \nTournament Rules:\nTerminology\n• Round – The game time between a countdown and a timeout. Typically there is a maximum of 3 rounds before someone is declared a “Winner” by the game. Applicable to Street Fighter V and Injustice 2.\n• Game – A single 2 out of 3 rounds for Street Fighter V or Injustice 2 or when someone loses all of their stocks in any of the Super Smash Bros. Games.\n• Set – However many games it takes to proceed to the next round in your bracket. It will be a 2 out of 3 games for regular bracket play and 3 out of 5 games for Grand Finals.\n• Double Blind Selection – At any point\, a player may ask for a double-blind selection for the first game so that neither player knows who the other is choosing during the character selection process. When a player requests a Double-Blind Selection\, one player must inform a TO on the character they are choosing. The other player then must choose their character. After that\, the first player then chooses the character spoken to the TO. The TO will make sure that they stick to their word\, and the match will proceed as usual.\n• Bracket – All brackets will be Single Elimination.\n• Bracket Seeding – All players will be seeded based off of relative skill determined by SETX eSports statistical ratings. For those players who are not currently in the ratings\, they will be seeded by hand based on their relative skills as determined by the tournament organizer.\n• Collusion – If a TO determines that any competitor is colluding to manipulate the results of the tournament or intentionally underperforming\, the collaborating players will be immediately disqualified. This determination is to be made at the sole discretion of the TOs. Anyone disqualified in this manner forfeits all rights to any titles or prizes they might have otherwise earned for this tournament.\n• Controllers & Adapters – You must provide your own controller for all games played on all systems. Hardware programmable input entry\, rapid-fire\, or other hardware assisted mechanisms are strictly forbidden. All macros available via the in-game controller configuration menu are allowed. All converters and controllers are the responsibility of the player. In cases of malfunction\, you will receive the actions described by the pausing rule stated below.\n• Absenteeism – After the tournament official calls the players for their match\, they will have a period of 3 minutes to report to their station with the required equipment to play. After that point\, no matter the reason\, with the sole exception of playing a match in another game\, you will be immediately disqualified.\n• Choosing Sides – When both players are on the game console\, they must come to an agreement to which side of the machine they will play on. If an agreement cannot be reached\, a game of rock-paper-scissors (best of one) will determine who gets to pick their side\n• Random Select – Any player using “Random Select” to pick their character\, must “Random Select” again if they win the game.\n• Pausing – Pausing the game at any time during a fighter will force you to forfeit the round via time-out for Street Fighter V and Injustice 2\, and via suicide by falling into the lower blast zone in Super Smash Bros. For Wii U. Pausing by unplugging or disconnecting your controller or a controller\, a malfunction will also constitute the actions stated in this rule.\n• Pad Desync – We request that everyone desync their controllers after each match. But as we do not live in a perfect world\, the responsibility at this event will lie with the players at the station. It is your responsibility to check and make sure all pads are desynced before you play your set. If a controller pauses the game due to not checking beforehand\, the game will be replayed.\n• Inevitable Defeat Rule – This is the exception to the Pausing rule. This is determined as when a player has legally won the round or match (i.e. Landed a move that will kill the opponent) but pauses the game before the game officially announces the winner of the round or game\, will still be awarded the win. If there is a dispute over whether the move would have knocked out the other player\, a tournament official will unpause the match\, see the results of the action\, and proceed from there. If the attack does not kill the opponent\, then the pause rule will be put into effect.\n• Coaching – There will be no coaching during a game. Consulting someone between games in a set is allowed as long as it does not hold up the next game as determined by the TOs.\n• DLC – Downloadable content for any game will not be legal for this tournament unless it was released 15 days or more previous to the day of the event.\n• Version – Each game will be played on their most recent patch.\n• Stalling – Stalling is banned. The act of stalling is intentionally making the game unplayable. Stalling tactics include but are not limited to becoming invisible or invincible\, continuing infinites\, infinite chain grabs\, or uninterruptible moves past 300%\, or reaching a position that your opponent can never reach you. Any instance of stalling or actions that can prevent the game from continuing (i.e. pausing\, freeze glitches\, disappearing characters\, game resets\, etc.) will result in a forfeit of that game for the player that initiated the action. You are responsible for knowing your own character\, and must be wary about accidentally triggering one of these effects.
