The City of Beaumont is proud to announce its annual Juneteenth Celebration, taking place on Saturday, June 17, 2023, from 3:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m in Downtown Beaumont. This event promises to be an exciting day of entertainment, culture and community engagement, as we come together to celebrate the history and significance of Juneteenth.

This annual event, which took place at Tyrrell Park for many years, has always been a highlight of the Summer in Beaumont. This year’s event promises to be a truly unforgettable experience with the captivating performances of R&B legends Shirley Murdock and Lenny Williams.

Shirley Murdock, renowned for her soulful vocals and chart-topping hits, will grace the stage with her mesmerizing presence. Known for songs like “As We Lay” and “Husband,” Murdock’s powerful voice and heartfelt performances have made her a beloved icon in the music industry.

Also gracing the stage is the incomparable Lenny Williams, an R&B sensation with an illustrious career spanning over four decades. Williams’ soul-stirring ballads, including the timeless hit “Cause I Love You,” have garnered him a loyal fan base and established him as one of the most influential voices in the genre.

The event will also feature live music from some of the best regional musicians such as Nebu Nezey and the Treblemakers, Far Cry, the Golden Triangle All Star Band, and hosted by DJ Erik Tee of Magic 102.5, as well as the SETX Line Steppers and other entertainment! Food trucks will be on site, serving up delicious cuisine to satisfy everyone’s taste buds. A new attraction will be the 12 and under Free Throw Competition with prizes for the winners. Registration for the competition will take place at the event.

Guests are encouraged to bring chairs and picnic blankets to relax between the Julie Rogers Theatre and the Main Library. Tents, canopies, and pets will not be permitted. Barbeque pits and other cooking equipment are not allowed in the event grounds unless the individual is an approved and pre-permitted vendor. All vendors and booths must be pre-registered to participate in the event.

Admission is free and open to the public, and we encourage everyone to bring their friends and family!

The City of Beaumont extends its gratitude to ExxonMobil, Giglio Distributing, LifeShare Blood Center, and Eastex Urgent Care for their generous support as the event’s sponsor and appreciates their continued commitment to the community.
